Families

Blackburn and Darwen Youth Zone is a 21st century Youth Zone located at the heart of Blackburn, open to young people aged 5 to 25 years old, aiming to change the prospects offered to young people in the area. Offering a state-of-the-art £5 million facility, young people have a space which provides “Somewhere to go, something to do and someone to talk to”. You can find out the opening times on this link.

Baby zone also operates out of Blackburn Youth Zone, which is a free safe space providing similar support and activities for families with children aged 0-5 years old. The sessions are every Wednesday from 09:30 – 14:30 (term time only).

Home-Start is a local community network of trained volunteers and expert support helping families with young children through their challenging times. Home-Start volunteers provide emotional and practical support and friendship to families with at least one child under the age of seven. Their service is free and confidential and you can find out more here.

There are also a range of Family Hubs and Children’s Centres across Blackburn with Darwen. They can offer support with pregnancy and birth, looking after your baby and family and early learning and education. For more information click here.
