Blackburn has a thriving cultural and entertainment scene from proudly hosting the award-winning National Festival of Making to being home to Lancashire’s biggest live music venues. There are lots of concerts, music productions, plays, dancing and family shows at King George’s Hall, Blackburn Cathedral, Darwen Library Theatre, Blackburn Empire Theatre and so much more. Blackburn also has its own Museum and Art Gallery where you can see Victorian paintings, and learn more about Blackburn’s past.

Both towns have a lot of restaurants, bars and cafés, and you can find a list of some of the best places here. There are a number of libraries in Blackburn and Darwen where you can borrow books, use their laptops, gain digital skills and a range of children’s activities on offer. For families with young children, there are also plenty of parks and playgrounds to explore as well as lots of Community Centres providing a range of services, sports, clubs, activities and facilities.

Blackburn also has a 10 screen Vue cinema, near to the train station. In the same building you will find a ten pin bowling alley, plus you can play pool and arcade games. Blackburn also has an ice skating arena called Planet Ice. Here you can go ice skating, you can hire ice skates, and you can watch the local ice hockey team Blackburn Hawks.
