Not everyone who comes to live in the UK can work. If you are claiming asylum you cannot work in the UK. Before applying for a job, you must check if you have the right to work.

You can work if you have received Refugee Status or Leave to Remain.

The Drop ins can provide support for getting into employment as well as gaining access to education, volunteering and training opportunities.

The Job Centre can help you to find work. There is Job Centre on Penny Street in Blackburn. Find the Jobcentre on a map. There is no Job Centre in Darwen.

There are Job Clubs in Blackburn with Darwen where you can get practical help as you seek employment. It’s a relaxed environment with the chance to meet other jobseekers, get support and gain the tools you need to find work.

Newground Together also provide support to individuals to achieve their goals whatever that might be. They can support with getting into work , gaining confidence or connecting with your community by joining an activity group or volunteering.
